In 1973 the workshop goes on to become a full-fledged company for which the name Doucal’s is chosen, a Englishised name indicating the direction to follow in terms of design. It is indeed in England that Giannini studies the art of shoemaking, in Northampton, and during the 1970s, when returning from this enlightening journey, he turns his business into a resounding success. It goes without saying that being Made in Italy is a firm prerogative of the brand, and today Doucal’s heritage was passed on to Giannini’s sons, Gianni and Jerry, who follow in their father’s footsteps, while adding a contemporary twist.
